College and Career ConnectionsI don't think this internship experience has effected my future in any way, besides strengthening my will when working professionally. My goals are to go to college for a chemistry degree and although is isn't something relevant to my internship, I was able to understand true grit from my experiences.

Our Final Products. The Importance of our ProductOur mentor has a very extensive job, often having to juggle the requests of teachers wanting installations throughout the whole High Tech North County village. My peers and I helped balance some of the tasks and projects for curation, Increasing productivity. However, there was lots of success in the ideals of the job as well as the products. He were able to learn practical skills and valuable lessons about planning and seeing projects through to the end.
I measured the success of my projects by the amount of work, preparation, and the praiseworthiness of the final product. I learned that with planning ahead and grit many things can be accomplished, even when encountering problems. Being proactive and solving problems is a necessary skill to keep in touch with because many setbacks appear throughout any work process. All of these skills are valuable for my academic career when undergoing the processes of study and scheduling. The work I did at internship was directly impacting high tech by creating a more valuable school space.
I developed a great appreciation for the work that the facilities at high tech do, mostly because I completed many similar jobs to their projects. My work wasn't necessarily outside of the school activities, but collaborating was slightly different. I had to think more in depth about the skills and strengths of my peers so I could assign them to a job that best suited them. I played a leader role in my group of two other students so these things were needed.
This is the second installation we are putting into the middle school. This is before we stained the planks and painted the letters.
I have learned that when I am given the opportunity to become a leader I really shine. I believe I can herd my group members into a focused cohesive group. Something I enjoy most is seeing the joy in the students eyes after installing their art pieces. The teachers are always very appreciative and this really depicts how the work we do is valued by those who share the space it is in. I dislike very few things in my internship, but the only thing that puts me off is my mack of artistic skill. Some areas that I want to improve in are time management skills. I can be doing a job for 2 hours and finalize, but sometimes there are alternative methods of of creating praiseworthy work that can minimize time. I intend to work better with these techniques.
For our project two other students and I will be setting up art and project installations all around the middle, elementary and high school. We have already put up many installations, but on the final week we will finalize the last few. What is essential for our success is communication and cooperation, because there are frequent opportunities for miscommunication that would put setbacks to our plans. We are supplied most of the tools and materials to create beautiful work, helping us meet our mentors expectations. I'd say I need support from my team members the most because without them working can be quite long, tedious, and challenging.
Meredith's position title is High Tech curator, and teacher. She works part time teaching senior students and curating beautiful work at High tech Middle, Elementary, and the High school. For the skills needed in this job, many practical skills are needed when curating these art pieces such as planning, measuring, and cutting (wood). There are also many artistic skills needed such as painting technique, making installations look professional, and editing and sorting art to find the most presentable pieces. Meredith said many of the skills you use in this sort of job are acquired through working in everyday life if you enjoy art and creating/curating.
My workplace isn't surprising to me in any way because it is just the school as well as Meredith's room that I have mainly been working in. I guess the most surprising aspect to me is the patience it takes to do the create a good finished product for everything I work on. Something I took on as internship started was a leader role when working with my peers. I have been directing many of the projects when group work is necessary. From what I've learned in these first two days, the work we are doing is simple enough, but when watching a professional and their methods I am able to view the correct ways to complete my tasks. Something I look forward to during this next week is a possible trip to an art museum to view the installations. It will hopefully give us more ideas of ways to present art from this last exhibition around the school. I'm excited to see what I can contribute into the work process and How my group dynamic will expand. For internship this year I am working with Meredith to create installations for High Tech High, Middle, and Elementary. She works to coordinate teacher's ideas for projects into a beautiful lasting installation in the schools. Me and other interns will be creating the teacher's projects and finding a way to have them displayed. I am excited to learn the proper ways of cutting and measuring wood for our installations.
